The Making of a Poetess
Black Rose is a passionate poet from Alabama and a proud member of the HoneyDrippers Poetry Collective. Though rooted in the traditions of the church, it was Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings that awakened her poetic spirit. She has been writing for over twenty years. She was first published as a teen, and later became the author of Growth Thru Pain, a raw and reflective collection chronicling her personal journey.

In 2023, Black Rose stepped boldly onto the performance scene, quickly becoming a featured voice on stages like Papi's Poetry Corner and Taunting Taboo. Her talents also extend to radio, where she co-hosted Smoking After Dark on BlogTalk Radio's DSR network alongside Kane Spade.

Her writing spans all subjects, but her favorite pieces are the ones that tantalize the senses and stir the soul. Whether you're drawn in by her sensual style or her deep introspections, Black Rose's poetry leaves a lasting impression.
